Question of the Day: What is the benefit of using hollow points instead of ball ammo in a defensive situation?
Shannon P. - : Because hollow points expand more.
Pattie T. - When hollow point ammo hits a target the ammo will stop accelerating sooner which will transfer most of the energy into the target which will cause more damage. Whereas ball ammo has a greater probability of passing through the target which will cause less damage. More damage is better!
At what age should children be allowed to fire a gun? Why do you feel this is a good age?
Patrica G. - At the age of 15. They are not mature enough at a younger age.
Susan G. - This depends on the child’s maturity level. I do feel that seeing/allowing them to help you clean your gun should be allowed at an early age.
Sabrian B. - 10 to shoot, as early as 5 to learn. We started gun safety in our home at an early age with Nerf guns. Now that my son is older we have began reinforcing those early lessons through training with a real gun/rifle. He is equipped with safety and security when near or handling a weapon.

Jackie P - Hand Gun
Who was the first person to let you hold a gun?
Susan G - My father was an avid hunter. I held my first shotgun when I was 4 years old.
Nicole T - My husband was teaching me how to hold and clean a gun.
Amy L - My husband is a hunter so he taught me how to use a gun when I was 27…
Shawnta P - My brother
Jeanette M - Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services lol
P Burros - A friend. My family are against guns because of previous accidents
Jo Ann V - The BPD training academy
Marah W - My husband works for the Baltimore City Police
Angela D - I never held a gun until I took myself to a range & took lessons on how to use a gun. That was maybe 8-10 years ago. I didn't follow up until about a year ago when I went to Free State, went through all MD's ridiculous rules to purchase a gun, took Free State's gun classes. Now, I'm stopped again because ammo is so expensive. I look forward to the 11-20- meet & greet.
